The department is pleased to welcome Fall 2015 Craig-Kade Scholar in Residence, Evelyn Annuss for a lunchtime talk, "Stage Flight." Dr. Annuss will explore the concerns of European border politics and the question of the refuge and their influence in contemporary German theater. But staging flight is not only a political reference, it is a theatrical term for the act of appearing on stageand it brings into focus the relationship between the theatrical space and the public sphere. From Aeschylus' The Suppliants to contemporary theater, Dr. Annuss will discuss the politics of aesthetic forms against the backdrop of today's political catastrophes. Lunch will be served. |
